LiberArti: The Polyphonic Freedom of Maurizio D’Andrea

In the magnificent setting of the Church of San Domenico in Alba, Italy, on Friday, March 29, “LiberArti” took place—an artistic event of extraordinary intensity, born from a clear and powerful vision: freedom cannot be expressed by a single voice. This is the founding idea behind the work of Maurizio D’Andrea, who created a performance where painting, music, and theatre intertwined to form an authentic chorus of expressive languages, each conveying a truth, an emotion, and a unique perspective on the concept of freedom. As the artist himself stated in his closing remarks: “Freedom can only be spoken through a chorus of voices”, and it was precisely in this spirit that the evening unfolded, becoming a collective and participatory work of art.

The alternation between the deep and magnetic voice of Silvia Tancredi, an internationally acclaimed singer with an evocative presence, and the intense and powerful monologue by Giulio Prosperi—written by D’Andrea himself and delivered by the talented contemporary actor—gave expression to two complementary souls of the same inner tension. They were joined by Gigi Rivetti, an internationally renowned musician, whose compositions masterfully translated emotion into sound, enhancing every nuance of the scenic narrative.

Equally essential was the visual and structural contribution of architect Barbara Viale, who transformed the church into an immersive space where art and freedom merged into a unified and multisensory experience. The entire event was filmed by Francesco Barone, a videomaker of great sensitivity, who succeeded in capturing the intensity of every moment, restoring depth and memory to the experience lived.

LiberArti” was far more than a mere performance: it became a choral artistic manifesto, an invitation to recognize that freedom is never solitary, but lives through multiplicity, dialogue, and shared expression. In a packed and attentive hall, the audience was not merely a spectator, but an active part of that chorus—making the evening a truly unforgettable and deeply human experience.
