A model of corporate social responsibility, Paycom–a leader in cloud-based human capital management software–started the first two months of 2024 on a philanthropic note.

This month, Paycom reaffirmed its commitment to social impact by donating $50,000 to the nonprofit Greenwood Rising Black Wall St. History Center, through the company’s monthly employee giving program.

This contribution follows Paycom’s earlier support in 2021, where they gave $50,000 towards the construction of the History Center.

Formed in 2015, the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre Centennial Commission is dedicated to fostering a stronger and more just Tulsa. It commemorates and educates the nation about Tulsa’s Historic Greenwood District and the Tulsa Race Massacre.

Greenwood Rising is an education center and museum telling the story of Tulsa’s Historic Greenwood District with a holistic and narrative-centric approach. Its location is in the heart of Black Wall Street, which was one of the most prosperous Black communities in the United States before it was destroyed in the Tulsa Race Massacre.

The museum honors the icons of Black Wall Street, commemorates and amplifies the voices of the victims of the Massacre and delves into the lessons of history to catalyze meaningful and enduring action today.

Through comprehensive education and telling the truths behind this chapter in America’s history, Greenwood Rising aims to address the enduring scars of historical racial trauma, fostering a path toward healing, racial justice and reconciliation. Its goal is to equip the next generation with a nuanced understanding of race relations, empowering them to shape a more equitable and harmonious society.

Since its opening in August 2021, approximately 90,000 visitors from around the world, including descendants of massacre victims, elected officials, civic organizations, students and scholars have visited the History Center.

Expressing gratitude for Paycom’s partnership, Raymond Doswell, the executive director for Greenwood Rising, said, “Their support helps sustain our education efforts to teach America’s hard racial history, and we salute Paycom for all its efforts to create a better Oklahoma.”

Paycom’s dedication to Greenwood Rising and the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre Centennial Commission reflects its steadfast commitment not only to business innovation but also too addressing societal challenges and fostering community advancement. These actions underscore the transformative power of corporate philanthropy and the role of businesses in driving positive societal change.

Paycom’s commitment to corporate social responsibility is demonstrated by its recent $35,000 donation to American Cancer Society Hope Lodge communities, offering invaluable support and lodging to adults and caregivers facing the challenges of cancer treatment away from home.

Through Paycom’s robust employee giving program, employees are empowered to engage in purpose-filled work. Each month, employees can contribute to various nonprofit organizations with donations deducted directly from their payroll.

These contributions have played a crucial role in supporting nonprofits dedicated to serving vulnerable populations, including those advocating for education, STEM initiatives, mental health support, veterans’ services, children and youth programs, as well as environmental education efforts.

These efforts, alongside employee participation in community service, continue to make a significant impact, strengthening communities and fostering a more equitable society.
