Nebraska in the Midwest is home to many beautiful areas to sightsee with its many rocky areas, dunes, and the neighboring Great Plains and of course, Beaver Lake. The state also is the home of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, ranked 159 out of the universities across the USA. Lincoln is a student-populated capital city with a lot of bars, restaurants, and student hangouts.
Not only is Nebraska the birthplace of Kool-Aid, but it is also home to an impressive nightlife with games dotted across the state in Lincoln, Grand Island, and Omaha, where the game of Omaha Hold’Em is believed to have been inspired by or come from. But of course, the golden age of online gaming platforms was ahead.
In 2009, it was reported that roughly 76% of American adults used the internet, and this number online went on to increase into the 2010s. With increasing access to the internet, the advent of real money games became even more immersive, and those were improved from their original model, with enhanced graphics compatible with modern computers.
While the allure and growth of online gaming have been revolutionized, the appeal of the industry extends behind an internet connection, and back into Nebraska. The state however has more to show and offer, and no matter what is the circle of your interests, Nebraska and its cities have a myriad of things to do for everyone, but there are some must-dos that we listed in this article.
1. Take a dip in Beaver Lake
Beaver Lake in Nebraska is about 297 acres of clear, blue water with opportunities for swimming, fishing, and watersports. It’s located in Cass County and is even perfect for a weekend getaway. Given the fact that there are plenty of places to stay in and around Beaver Lake, you won’t have trouble relaxing in this watery paradise. Alternatively, there are plenty of RVs to rent in the area ranging in price. Close to Beaver Lake, there are plenty of places to eat after a long day of fishing. Local favorites include Beyond BBQ and JR’s Bar and Grill.
2. Catch a home softball game at the Bowlin Stadium in Lincoln
Nebraska is infamous for its college and state-level sports, and the Nebraska Huskers softball team is no exception! With a pretty regular schedule, a visit to Lincoln means a visit to the Bowlin Stadium to catch the Cornhuskers in their natural environment. Just last month, pitcher Jordy Bahl made her way to the Nebraskan team, creating a huge ticket demand. Bahl was a notable college-level player and unfortunately, got injured last month. However, since the Huskers have been on a role in recent games, why not tune in for one of their games in March? Sunday, March 17 marks the Cornhuskers versus the Northern Colorado Bears softball game, where tickets cost as little as $7.00 at a resale price.
3. Take a breather at the stunning Sunken Gardens in Lincoln
After a hard day of sports watching, why not take a scenic stroll around the Sunken Gardens, a botanical paradise filled with beautiful plants and colorful fish? It’s a small but scenic space that was developed in 1930 and is rejuvenated every year by the Garden Artists and their tricks with all things floral! Springtime is the best time to visit when the garden’s tulips are in bloom and when the temperature is just beginning to increase, perfect for a warm spring evening!
4. Take the family to the Strategic Air Command and Aerospace Museum
In Ashland, there is the Strategic Air Command (SAC) and Aerospace Museum which aims to educate visitors on the history of the SAC, its role in world conflicts, and the key players in the history of US aerospace.
Opening in 1959, the museum has since housed many historic aircraft used in various conflicts and waters, one of the most frequent ones being from the Cold War. The museum was once used to restore aircraft. It relocated to the current area in 1998 and now educates visitors on how the Strategic Air Command (SAC) has impacted the aircraft industry in both the past and present. For those who want to know how it feels to fly, there are options to immerse you into the world of aircraft operation for $11.00 each for children from 4-12 and adults.
To sum up the topic, Nebraska is a great location to spend a lovely time with friends and family members, offering a vibrant environment where you will never feel bored. The Cornhusker State can be a unique destination also for those who enjoy hot summers and typical cold winters.
