In a significant stride towards improving governance and public service delivery, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Right to Public Services Commission (KPRPSC) stands as a beacon of transparency and efficiency in the province. Established under the Right to Public Services Act of 2014, the Commission has been instrumental in ensuring that citizens of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa receive timely, transparent, and accountable public services.

The KPRPSC operates with a clear mandate to oversee and facilitate the delivery of public services. The Commission’s primary role is to address complaints related to delays, deficiencies, or lack of transparency in the provision of services by public entities. Citizens can lodge complaints regarding various services, which the Commission then investigates and resolves.

With a robust framework in place, the Commission wields powers akin to those of a civil court. This includes summoning individuals, reviewing evidence, and requisitioning public records. Such powers ensure that the Commission can effectively address grievances and uphold public accountability.

The Commission’s effectiveness is evident from its performance statistics. Out of 254 complaints received, 232 have been successfully resolved, showcasing a commendable resolution rate. Currently, only 22 complaints remain in process, with no complaints pending, reflecting the Commission’s commitment to addressing issues in a timely manner.

The Commission’s procedures are designed to ensure fairness and transparency. Complaints are received and reviewed, with necessary actions taken based on the evidence presented. The Commission has the authority to summon individuals, review documents, and issue orders to resolve issues. Decisions are communicated to the concerned parties within 15 days, ensuring that citizens are kept informed throughout the process.

Looking ahead, the KPRPSC aims to further strengthen its role in promoting good governance and public accountability. By continuously improving its procedures and engaging with citizens, the Commission strives to enhance public trust and ensure that every citizen’s right to timely and effective public services is upheld.

The KPRPSC exemplifies how dedicated institutions can drive positive change and foster a more accountable and transparent governance system, ultimately empowering citizens and enhancing their trust in public services.
