Despite years of criticism of the World Economic Forum, Elon Musk unexpectedly appeared in Davos and promised a global-scale technological revolution that could reshape the global economy, healthcare, and everyday life.
American billionaire and tech entrepreneur Elon Musk took part in the World Economic Forum in Davos for the first time, where he delivered a series of high-impact predictions about the future of humanity, artificial intelligence, robotics, and life extension technologies. According to Musk, the world is entering a new technological era defined by rapid automation, humanoid robots, and breakthroughs in longevity science.
As reported by Dialog, Musk’s appearance at Davos surprised many observers. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO has previously criticized the World Economic Forum, calling it elitist, boring, and increasingly similar to an “unelected world government.” Musk was added to the forum’s agenda at the last minute, one day after a speech by U.S. President Donald Trump.
On the Davos stage, Musk appeared alongside BlackRock CEO Larry Fink, discussing global technology trends, artificial intelligence, and the future of economic growth.
Robots Will Outnumber Humans, Musk Says
A central message of Musk’s remarks focused on the rapid rise of artificial intelligence and robotics. He said accelerating technological development will drive unprecedented productivity and economic expansion, transforming manufacturing, logistics, and consumer services.
“I predict that there will be more robots than humans,” Musk said.
According to Musk, Tesla’s humanoid Optimus robots will begin performing basic tasks at the company’s factories this year. Within the next 12 months, he expects robots to take over more advanced industrial operations, signaling a major shift in automation and workforce technology.
Musk also suggested that humanoid robots could soon be used in everyday household environments, expanding the role of robotics in daily life.
AI to Surpass Human Intelligence
In one of his most striking technology forecasts, Musk predicted that by the end of 2026, artificial intelligence will become smarter than any individual human. Within five years, he said, AI could surpass the combined intelligence of all humanity — a development that would have major implications for science, business, national security, and global policy.
Robotaxis and Autonomous Driving Expansion
Musk also confirmed that Tesla has already launched robotaxi services in several U.S. cities. He said the company expects autonomous taxi services to expand nationwide by the end of the year, marking a major milestone for self-driving technology and urban transportation.
In addition, Tesla is seeking European regulatory approval for autonomous taxis as early as next month. While Musk did not name specific countries, he said regulatory progress in Europe could accelerate the adoption of driverless transportation across international markets.
Longevity Technology and Anti-Aging Breakthroughs
Musk also addressed longevity and life-extension research, calling aging a “completely solvable problem.” He suggested that advances in biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and medical research could lead to breakthroughs in understanding and reversing the aging process.
“Once we understand what causes aging, it will become incredibly obvious how to solve it,” Musk said.
According to Musk, future technology could significantly extend human lifespan, with major implications for healthcare systems, biotechnology investment, and global demographics.
